Lennar’s “wait and see” approach to the development of Central Park West has the Rockefeller Community in limbo as no available homesites or phase releases were decided at the time of visit. After visiting the first communities of Central Park West in 2010, Lennar was very optimistic on how high density housing was going to be received in a mostly suburban and commercial area like Irvine. After learning from some of the undesirable attributes associated with high density living, Lennar and it’s designers were able to correct some of the flaws in it’s earlier designs by incorporating private access areas (as opposed to hallways of front doors), private, direct access garages, and minimizing shared walls with adjacent units. As a result, the homes in Rockefeller feel brighter, more open due, and less “condo-ish” due to these changes.
