Diamond Jamboree is a hugely popular plaza with numerous places to eat, hang out with friends, and even try a few escape rooms at Square Room Escape. With over 20 restaurants, it’s hard to choose where to eat whenever you come to visit. You can start off with a nice dinner at Coco Ichibanya where they have top-of-the-line Japanese curry, or have some delicious ramen at Ajisen Ramen. Once you’re done with dinner, you can head over to 85ºC Bakery Café and pick up some delicious baked sweets and refreshing drinks. And if you’re not in the mood for a bread sweet, Afters might be the perfect place to you with their unique selection of ice cream!
However, with the recent events that have occurred with COVID-19 there have been some drastic changes with the plaza. During lunch time where busy times can peak, the parking lot is completely empty. Either with restaurant employees or people coming to pick up their orders, no one stays to enjoy their meals out in the open. From the looks of it, numerous restaurants had their doors closed, locked, or only let a limited number of customers in to maintain the 6-feet social distancing rule.
Shopping centers and plazas all over the country are being affected by this crisis, and it’s clear that Diamond Jamboree is no exception. It’s good to see them doing their part during this difficult time. Remember to stay safe out there, we’ll get through this if we work together.

Disclaimer: “All-time high” isn’t a metric I’m able to historically track and graph — I’m only referencing what I’ve seen on my own reports in my 13+ years in Real Estate using the multiple listings service.
A few definitions:
“HOLD” status is the term for limbo in the multiple listing service (MLS). Also known as “HOLD do not show” and “off market until further notice”. It’s implied that the listing will be back to “ACTIVE” status.
There’s a different status for listings where the seller does NOT plan on having it active in the near future called “Withdrawn”. The seller is restricted from re-listing the home until the listing contract expires.
Then there’s “Expired” and “Cancelled” where the home is officially off the market with the prior listing broker. These are the types of listings that receive a TON of phone calls and solicitations from other agents and statistics show that a good percentage of them end up selling again.
Here’s how many homes are currently on HOLD as of April 14th 2020:
Anaheim: 34
Anaheim Hills: 21
Brea: 6
Cerritos: 12
Placentia: 4
Yorba Linda: 26
All of Orange County: 817
All of Los Angeles County: 1,557
Just for reference, the entire Orange County usually hovers under 100. The larger cities named like Anaheim and Yorba Linda usually have 5-10.
With uncertainty due to the COVID-19 lockdown, Realtors have been restricted in showing properties to would-be buyers and have been encouraged to use virtual tours and other means where social distancing would continue.
As a result, the number of homes in escrow (pending and backup offers) have decreased significantly in these Irvine luxury condominiums.
